How I Think About Change
Therapy is not about applying a rigid formula or positioning myself as the expert on your child. It is a collaborative process that integrates clinical expertise with your deep understanding of your family.
Children’s behaviors make sense when we understand the stress responses beneath them. What may appear as defiance, withdrawal, or inattention is often a nervous system organized around protection. When we shift from managing behavior to understanding the underlying state, our interventions become more precise — and more effective.
Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction, we work to strengthen regulation, resilience, and connection. As children experience consistent safety and co-regulation — both in session and at home — their capacity for flexibility, attention, and emotional steadiness expands.
Sustainable change does not emerge from pressure. It develops through safety, structure, and steady support.
Steady support creates lasting change.
What to Expect
A steady, collaborative approach to supporting your child and family
Initial Consultation
Our work begins with a consultation focused on understanding your concerns, your child’s history, and your goals for therapy. This is an opportunity to ask questions, clarify expectations, and determine whether we are a good fit.
You can expect a thoughtful, structured conversation — not a rushed intake. My goal is to help you leave with greater clarity about next steps, regardless of whether we move forward together.
Early Sessions
The first several sessions focus on building rapport, gathering information, and identifying patterns. Children are supported in understanding how their bodies respond to stress and emotion, while caregivers receive insight and guidance alongside them.
We move at a pace that supports safety and regulation. There is no pressure to “perform” or disclose before a child feels ready.
On Going Therapy
As therapy progresses, we work toward strengthening regulation, resilience, and connection. Sessions integrate practical tools, body-informed strategies, and collaborative problem-solving.
Caregiver involvement remains an essential part of treatment. You will receive clear communication, actionable strategies, and consistent support throughout the process.
A Thoughtful Pace
Therapy is not about quick fixes. It is a steady process that prioritizes safety, clarity, and sustainable growth. My role is to create a structured and supportive space where both children and caregivers feel understood.
